A smiling woman with short brown hair wearing hoop earrings and a black-and-white striped shirt, standing against a pink wall.
Bright yellow background with black text that reads 'alex is'.

As you can see, Alex Friend is a lot of things. She’s based in Brooklyn. She’s ready for work. And she’s very happy to meet you.

Alex has been working as both a designer and art director since she graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2010. Her career has spanned digital production, branding, social media, and advertising. She was most recently working on Wistia’s marketing team as a Senior Marketing Designer II, her favorite role to date. At Wistia, she was integral in establishing a new photography style for their brand refresh, worked heavily with the Brand team to create unique event experiences, and was basically ready for anything anyone needed her to help out with (a Chopped! style content series for video marketing? Sure, why not.).

Before she joined Wistia in 2022, she worked for Bully Pulpit International, space150, CA Creative, Adoptive, and Prophet in various capacities, including but not limited to: art direction, design, client relationships, photography, and styling. Her design ethos has always been rooted in visual storytelling and how best to communicate a message without losing the soul of both the brand and the brief. The importance of emphasizing humanity in design is especially important to her as our tools become increasingly autonomous and workflows automated. Even as she embraces progress, she wants to ensure that we don’t lose our ability to connect with each other, whether through a :30 spot on Instagram or a half hour conversation at a conference booth.
